Reyes y Demonios Espadin is produced in Rio Arena, San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca. The family Hernandez Lopez has been producing mezcal for five generations. The new generation honors the love and respect for the land that they have learned and re forestation is part of the production process, as every agave they cook is taken from the Hernandez Family’s own agave fields, under Maestro Don Humberto Lopez Juan’s supervision.
Reyes y Demonios was created out of the passion of two Argentine friends that thought Mezcal should be as representative of Mexico as Malbec Wine is to Argentina. They partnered with a Mexican chef who introduced them to many Mezcalero’s and families that have been producing Mezcal for generations. After meeting the Hernandez Family, they knew they would be the perfect fit to make their dream come true, and the Espadin quality in the Reyes y Demonios bottle exemplifies that. The Hernandez Family grows Espadin Agave only, and only distill Reyes y Demonios Espadin using agave from their own fields.They do not sell or purchase agave from other agave producers or fields. The name Reyes y Demonios is a representation of one of the fables around Mezcal. This particular fable says that Mezcal was used by Aztec Kings to chase away the Demons of the desert. The King would send scouts to the desert and have them drink Mezcal when they came back from the desert as a celebratory drink from chasing the demons away. Hence the title: Kings & Demons

Pungent, Smoked vegetal, old leather and subtle floral notes. Lightly smoked, meaty palate and hints of burnt sugar and lemon on the forefront as soon as you taste, and the finish is filled with generous agave, and long smoke. Tons of the vegetal notes that were on the nose, are followed through in the finish as well.
