FUN FACTS
-
- Tannenzäpfle means “pine cone” in German – a fitting name as there are many pine cone producing spruce-fir trees in the Black Forest.
-
- The icon, “Biergit” (beer girl), a Black Forest girl holding two glasses of beer, first debuted in 1956 and is now the defining symbol for all beers made for the Rothaus Brewery.

-
- Eiszäpfle – As is typical for this variety, Rothaus Märzen has a higher original gravity (13.4%) and a slightly lower hop content (25 IBU’s) in comparison to our Tannenzäpfle Pils. As a result, the flavor is more full-bodied with a malty finish, while the bitter flavors recede to the background. Just like with our Pils, the fermentation process utilizes bottom-fermented yeast. Similarly, the storage time requires roughly four weeks of temperatures down to 35.5 F.
